In his opening remarks, President Li Xiaotian expressed gratitude to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) experts from across Guangdong province and throughout China for their strong support of the hospital's GCP development, while outlining the history of the hospital's clinical research infrastructure.
Li noted that although Shenzhen possesses strong innovation capabilities and economic strength, a gap remains in clinical trial development compared with Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, making GCP progress a long-term priority. Emphasizing that GCP serves as a cornerstone for research-oriented and top-tier hospitals, he urged attendees to capitalize on the learning opportunity to continuously elevate their professional standards and trial management capabilities to attract and execute more clinical trials.
The seminar featured lectures by leading national GCP experts from across the province and the country, including Dr. Zeng Tao, director of the GCP Office at Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University; Dr. Cao Ye, director of the Clinical Trials Department at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center; Zeng Xiaohui, chair of the Drug GCP Committee of the Guangdong Pharmaceutical Association; Zhang Xun, vice chair of the committee; and Dr. Wei Hong, director of the Drug GCP Office at Shenzhen Children's Hospital.
Additionally, internal experts from the hospital contributed as speakers, including Dr. Wen Ping, deputy director of the Institute of Maternal and Child Medicine; Dr. Jin Ping, director of Gynecology at Fuqiang Campus; Dr. Zeng Yongmei, director of Pediatrics; and Dr. Chen Xueyu, researcher in the Neonatology Department. The sessions were chaired by registered GCP experts including Vice President Wu Bo; Dr. Zhao Hongxia, director of the Pediatric Ward; Dr. Tang Hongping, deputy director of the Pathology Department; Dr. Wu Weiqing, director of the Medical Genetics Center; and Chief Physician Yuan Ying from the Ultrasound Department.
Drawing on extensive clinical research experience, the speakers delivered lectures and case presentations covering regulatory compliance, trial design, inspection priorities, quality management system development, and ethical review for drug, medical device, and investigator-initiated trials. The event saw active participation, with approximately 250 attendees completing the in-person training and post-seminar evaluation.
Following the seminar, Zeng Tao and Cao Ye toured several hospital departments, including the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Medical Genetics Center, and Department of Gynecology, providing tailored guidance on ongoing clinical trial projects and management protocols.
