To deepen exchange and cooperation in maternal and child health between Shenzhen and Kashgar, and to extend high-quality nursing resources to border regions, a team of nursing experts from Shenzhen Maternity & Child Healthcare Hospital, together with the Shenzhen Nursing Association, recently traveled to the Kashgar Maternal and Child Health Hospital to deliver targeted assistance.
The five-member team operated through the "Zhu Shening Famous Nurse Studio" platform.
Delegation members met with leaders from the Kashgar hospital, including Zhang Qingyue, secretary of the General Party Branch; Lin Bingchun, president; Guli Xiati, director of the nursing department; and head nurses from relevant departments.
During the exchange, the Shenzhen team provided clinical teaching and outpatient consultations in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nursing, midwifery, and breastfeeding. They also visited inpatient wards to conduct brief lectures, nursing rounds, emergency drills, and operational guidance, delivering advanced nursing concepts and techniques to the local staff.

Lectures and emergency drills
Mo Beirong, chair of the supervisory board of the Shenzhen Nursing Association and vice president of the Nanshan Medical Group Headquarters, delivered a keynote lecture titled "New Quality Productive Forces Driving High-Quality Development in Nursing." Drawing on modern management practices and nursing trends, Mo provided fresh insights that were warmly received by attendees. Following her presentation, Mo visited the local nursing department to review nursing management, quality control, and clinical documentation, offering practical recommendations for improvement.
Wang Lu, head nurse of the hospital's obstetrics department, led a theoretical session titled "Implementation and Results of Group Classes in Midwife Clinics." She introduced a patient-centered, interactive model for prenatal and postnatal health education. Wang also guided a postpartum hemorrhage emergency response drill in the delivery room, evaluating emergency workflows and team coordination.
Specialized care via nurse studio
Relying on the "Zhu Shening Famous Nurse Studio," the Shenzhen team conducted clinical teaching across specialized outpatient services, including TCM nursing techniques, maternal care, delivery guidance, and breastfeeding support.
During the consultations, local pregnant women and their families sought advice from the experts. Patients expressed gratitude for the opportunity to receive expert guidance locally, noting that the clear explanations helped address their pregnancy and feeding concerns.
In the TCM nursing clinic, Qiu Pingping, head nurse of the TCM department, provided treatments based on syndrome differentiation for symptoms such as pregnancy-related cough and morning sickness. She demonstrated techniques including guasha (scraping) for insomnia and auricular point pressing to improve sleep disorders, offering hands-on instruction to local medical staff.
Wang provided one-on-one personalized guidance at the midwifery clinic, focusing on prenatal care, nutrition, weight management, delivery preparation, and psychological support. Using pelvic and childbirth models, she demonstrated the delivery process to help patients build confidence for natural childbirth and reduce anxiety.
Li Qiaomeng, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), staffed the breastfeeding clinic. Li evaluated infant growth metrics and feeding status to offer customized guidance on nursing postures, latching techniques, and feeding schedules, helping mothers resolve common nursing challenges.
Operating room mentorship
In the operating room, Wang Baojun, chief nurse, provided teaching focused on nursing coordination for laparoscopic gynecological surgeries and cesarean sections, as well as workflow optimization. Through on-site observations, practical demonstrations, and process reviews, Wang helped local operating room nurses clarify duty responsibilities and improve coordination.
Extending Resources to the Grassroots
Mo, Wang Baojun, and Li, along with Aziguli, head obstetrics nurse at the Kashgar hospital, traveled to Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County People's Hospital. They provided on-site mentorship and recommendations on nursing administration, operating room management, and breastfeeding support to extend high-quality care to grassroots facilities.
The initiative achieved concrete results in specialized outpatient services, TCM nursing promotion, demonstration teaching, and grassroots outreach, injecting new momentum into the Kashgar hospital's nursing capabilities.
Moving forward, the Shenzhen Women & Child Healthcare Hospital plans to maintain technical support to help the Kashgar facility operate the famous nurse studio on a regular basis, expand TCM nursing practices, improve midwifery clinic models, and enhance maternal and child healthcare in the region.
The Shenzhen hospital noted that it will continue using the "Zhu Shening Famous Nurse Studio" as a bridge to deepen collaboration with the Kashgar hospital, transforming the platform into a model for regional talent training, technology promotion, and quality service.
